CAMP FACILITIES: Come spend the summer at resident YMCA Camp Weona and discover what dreams are made of in a place “where only good prevails.” With over a century of camping experience, and built on the Christian heritage of the YMCA, we value honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. YMCA Camp Weona offers both traditional and high adventure activities. Horseback riding through the forest, kayaking under the blue sky, making new friends, singing by the campfire, jumping into the refreshing pool, learning how to set up a campsite, fishing at the lake; each day is full of adventure. YMCA Camp Weona serves children 7 to 17 years old with exciting summer camp options for one, or two or more week stays. All campers live in one of 18 rustic bunk style cabins with shared restrooms facilities. Campers return home with increased self esteem, friendship building skills, and the ability to make good decisions on their own. You’ll find that your child will become better at meeting and getting to know people and will learn to take positive risks at learning new things.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We pride ourselves in selecting staff that are role models of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. As a result, the YMCA Camp Weona culture and setting are safe, fun, and enriching physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. We recruit from local high schools and colleges, as well as all over the country and around the world. All staff participate in an intensive week-long residential training that includes safety management, working with children in group settings, leading activities, camp policies and procedures, and child abuse prevention. Necessary staff members are lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certified as well as other nationally-recognized certifications. YMCA Camp Weona takes the health and safety of our campers very seriously.
We have a 6:1 camper-to-leader ratio which assures close supervision of all activities. During the summer session a fulltime health officer lives on site and a physician is on call 24 hours a day. Also, YMCA Camp Weona is certified by the New York State Health Department and has periodic inspections throughout the summer. YMCA Camp Weona is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA is a non-profit organization that member camps join voluntarily. For nearly two decades, YMCA Camp Weona has been a member of this organization and on a semi-annual basis is visited by ACA, which verifies that we are maintaining over 300 standards of operation in camping. These are industry standards and recognized by the government.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Building on the tradition of “super” leadership, the YMCA believes in growing our future leaders as well as enhancing our teen population’s skill base. Leaders in Training (LIT) is geared toward teens who are ready to test their leadership skills while working with younger campers. All LITs must demonstrate the YMCA’s core values, have a service mentality, and strong desire to learn and grow leadership skills. Participating as an LIT may count toward high school community service hours for graduation. Sessions for 15 year olds and older begin with two weeks; 15 year olds two weeks; 16-17 year olds with three weeks. Visit our LIT dates and rates on our web site Our Camp Website Link: www.campweona.org
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At YMCA Camp Weona, we believe that every child should have the chance to experience camp. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign provides financial assistance to families within our community who are in need of financial support and may not have the ability to pay the full fee. Financial assistance is determined based on a thorough review of an application and a personal interview with the applicant. Assistance will be granted on the basis of financial need resulting from low income, emergency expenses or other circumstances that inhibit an individual’s ability to pay a prescribed fee. As part of our mission, we teach campers responsibility with an opportunity to Earn Their Way to Camp. Campers may choose to pay for part or all of their camp fees through the annual YMCA Camp Candy Sale which runs from January through July.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Redefine Family Time - We have something for every one - Whether you’re age two or 92, there’s something for you at YMCA Camp Weona! We have the perfect atmosphere to spend quality time relaxing and enjoying the outdoors together. Nestled in Wyoming County, camp offers nearly 1,000 acres of picturesque forests, lakes, hiking trails, babbling brooks, and rolling hills. Outdoor activities are planned throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy. We offer three family camps to choose from: • President’s Day Camp • Memorial Day Camp • Labor Day Camp
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: At YMCA Camp Weona, campers have the opportunity to make friends, master new skills, gain independence, all while being led by great cabin leaders who are outgoing, creative, positive role models on nearly 1000 acres of woods, trails and adventure while having a safe and FUN time “where only good prevails!”
OTHER CAMP INFO: YMCA Camp Weona is a “Group Work” Camp. At YMCA Camp Weona, our rustic cabins provide a home for small groups of no more than 12 campers who live together and attend daily activities as a group. Cabin groups are made up of either boys or girls entering similar grades and registered for the same camp program. Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their leaders. The intention is to foster a “family-like” atmosphere within the group. Menu - Our back-to-basics menu is prepared each day in the dining hall. The YMCA offers items that children enjoy in their daily life that help sustain the additional energy needed during long days at camp. Our food service staff prides themselves on the fact that there are no trans fats in our meals. Special consideration is given for children who have allergies or prefer a vegetarian option.
Cabin/Bunk Mates - Campers may request a bunk mate within one school grade of each other, are of the same gender, and are registered for the same program. A bunk mate request is included in the parent pack and must be returned three weeks prior to attendance. Requests made after the three-week deadline may not be honored. In order to promote inclusion within each cabin, only one bunk mate request per child will be honored. (Bunk mates must be reciprocal – ex. John picks Tim and Tim must pick John.) Members of this exciting ensemble receive acting, voice, and dance training from professional teaching artists and take master classes with Broadway performers. They rehearse and perform a musical review that they help create. This program culminates with a performance on a professional stage.
The Broadway Bound Workshop is a fully subsidized 8-month program. Members will explore character development through musical theatre, improvisation, monologues, and scene study. The ensemble applies these skills throughout the rehearsal process for a show presented in the Spring. The members in this program develop confidence and competence as performers and as young adults! Sending a child to camp is a tremendous act of faith by parents. At Woodmont, staff take that responsibility very seriously and maintain an environment that encourages both safety and health and reinforces a positive self-image. Staff aim to provide campers with opportunities for emotional and physical growth, encourage their natural abilities and instill in them the benefits of participating in a group. Our ultimate goal is to provide an enjoyable, exciting summer experience that motivates our campers to approach the future with courage, confidence and a feeling of self-worth.
Staff create a warm, family feeling at Woodmont in a number of ways. CAMP FACILITIES: We have more than 60 cabins, a lakefront boating and swimming area, an a-frame dining hall with a massive stone fireplace, a 3200 square-foot indoor rockclimbing center, 3 barns and horse pastures, indoor & outdoor classrooms, sports fields, tennis courts, basketball court, street hockey rink, pottery studio, archery range, low ropes course, team building course, and a 19th century working farm (with barns, vegetable gardens, animal pastures, maple sugarhouse, candlemaking cabin, blacksmith forge, woodshop, TreeHouse Nature center, and a one-room schoolhouse)
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Pok-O-MacCready Camps is one of the oldest summer camps in the world. In fact, our boys’ camp is the oldest in the United States having been privately owned and operated by the same family since its establishment in 1905. In 1967 our current director, Jack Swan, saw the need for a summer camp for girls and opened Camp MacCready. We are now one big family, combining our names to “Pok-O-MacCready” and operating as a traditional residential Adirondack summer camp for boys and girls ages six to sixteen.
The proximity of our summer camp to the Adirondack Wilderness Park grants us access to more than 6 million acres of woodland, rocks, rivers, lakes, and mountains to explore. We consider it a privilege to be able to share this gorgeous part of the country with our campers each summer, and enjoy fostering their love of the outdoors while teaching them stewardship for the environment.
Pok-O-MacCready Camps is fully accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA) and adheres to all standards of compliance with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our CIT program for girls and ADV (Advanced) program for boys is an important finale to the summer camp career for our 15 and 16 year old campers! This rite of passage teaches them responsibility and independence and allows them to give back to the summer camp that has been an important part of their lives. As a send-off, you will save 20% off your child’s second (and final) year in the program. (The discount is taken off the regular tuition rate, and cannot be combined with other offers. The camper must have attended the first year of the CIT/ADV program to qualify.)
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Pok-O-MacCready is very proud of its affiliation with the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation, which awards approximately 20 need-based financial aid packages to campers each summer.
To find out more, please contact the Foundation by visiting Our Camp Website Link: www.adkscholarship.org or email adkscholarship[AT]gmail.com
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): FAMILY CAMP: AUGUST 22th-26th 2018
Summer camp isn’t just for kids anymore! Want to experience camp for yourself and wrap it up into an inexpensive family vacation? Maybe you and your children are just curious to see what Pok-O-MacCready is all about, but you’re not quite ready to take the plunge with an entire summer. We have an answer for that: bring the whole family to camp! Our annual Family Camp week runs at the end of August and is all-inclusive of accommodation, meals, activities and programming, and transportation for trips outside of camp. Our rates are reasonable, and simply put: YOU CAN’T BEAT IT! Contact Us to get this year’s Family Camp dates and rates.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Pok-O-MacCready operates an Outdoor Education Center on its grounds from September through June of each year. Since 1974, the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center has welcomed thousands of students and adults to participate in wilderness adventure excursions, team building dynamics, wildlife & ecology studies, living history programs, community events, and conservation initiatives. Apart from onsite day & multi-day overnight programs, PMOEC is available for school visits and in-classroom programming. The facilities are also available for venue rental for weddings, conferences, reunions, and community events.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
FULL SEASON (7 Weeks) JULY 1, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $8,200.
It’s true! Many of our campers choose to stay for all seven weeks of the summer. Staying for the whole season really allows campers to hone their skills in their class areas, go on more wilderness trips, and means they won’t miss out on any of the big summer camp events! In addition, 7-weekers get to enjoy special events in between the 4-week and 3-week session break such as Beach Day and a day trip to the Great Escape amusement park. Some campers choose to register for the first 4 weeks, and then decide later to upgrade to the full 7-week session, and that’s just fine by us. If you’re unsure whether your camper would like to be a 4-weeker or a 7-weeker, don’t worry…it only takes a mouse-click for us to change a 4-weeker to a 7-weeker. Feel free to discuss that option with your child if you think they could benefit from a longer session!
4-WEEK SESSION JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 29, 2019 Standard Rate: $6,400
The first half of the summer consists of our 4-week overnight program. The 4-week session allows campers to learn new skills and take part in a variety of classes. The session includes many themed events which lead up to our “Color Wars”, in which campers don their colors of Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, or Green and see which team will come out on top: these games have been a camper favorite for decades!
“ROOKIE CAMP” (2 Weeks, for ages 6-10 only)
JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 14, 2018 Standard Rate: $3,200
For the first two weeks of the 4-Week session, we run a two week “Rookie Camp” for first-time campers between the ages of 6 to 9 years old. We feel this short session is a good bite-sized introduction to summer camp, and also allows campers the flexibility to stay on for the remainder of the 4-week session if they get bitten by the “summer camp bug” and want to stay longer!
3-WEEK SESSION (Overnight) JULY 31, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $4,600
The 3-Week session offers two options to campers: a traditional overnight summer camp program, or a day-camp option. The 3-Week session is full of fun classes Mondays – Fridays, with special events planned on the weekends. It’s also the session in which our famous GREEK GAMES take place, as well as some of our campers’ all-time favorite camp events like the “Pok-O-Palooza” music festival, the Jack’s Cup sailing race, Casino Night, and the Pok-O County Fair.
3-WEEK SESSION (Day Camp)* JULY 21, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $2,100 for a first-time camper.
Our day campers attend camp from approximately 9am to about 5pm Mondays through Fridays. Just like overnight campers, they get to create their own class schedule from a list of over 30 program offerings. They are, of course, assigned to a cabin and counselor and have their own bunks so they have a comfortable spot to relax during Rest Hour. Day campers also have the option of staying the night for an evening activity or program if they wish, and we can easily make those arrangements, although a small fee may apply. They also have the added bonus of being able to stay overnight the last week of camp for no additional fee!

CAMP FACILITIES: We fully utilize the Universitys excellent indoor and outdoor athletic and cultural facilities on Hofstras beautiful 240-acre campus.
Give your child the summer experience of a lifetime! With more than 20 specialty camps, 12 sports academy camps and the Learning Institute, Hofstra Summer Camps provides an intellectually enriching atmosphere and hours of fun!
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: For more than 25 years, Hofstra Summer Camps has provided a safe and enriching environment for children in all grade levels. We expect 2014 to be our most exciting summer ever, with thrilling new programs that offer a variety of ways to enrich campers’ social development, creativity, and physical and academic potential.
Hofstra Specialty Camps offers a broad spectrum of programs — fine arts, performing arts, science, tennis, golf, and more than 20 additional specialties — with the flexibility to register for two, four, six, or seven weeks. Campers spend half the day in their chosen specialty and the other half in recreation and instructional swim.
If your camper in grades 2 through 12 wants to improve their athletic skills, he or she can choose Sports Academy Camps in baseball, basketball, lacrosse, wrestling, volleyball, soccer, softball, pep band, dance, and cheerleading.
Does your camper prefer more intellectual or creative pursuits? No problem! Our Learning Institute programs offer wonderful opportunities for students to challenge themselves in positive, enjoyable settings.
And once again, we are proud to partner with Nassau BOCES to offer a wide range of unique and exciting programs for youth in grades 3-11, including our Hofstra Precollegiate Career Discovery Institute for grades 7-11, which gives teens the opportunity to explore possible future careers in culinary arts, veterinary, video production, graphic design, aviation, criminal justice and more! These experiences will help teens explore their passions while gaining solid fundamentals and skills. With convenient locations on the Hofstra campus and at Nassau BOCES’ Brookville, Caumsett and Barry Tech locations, there is something for everyone!
Hofstra’s knowledgeable and reputable staff focuses on teaching self-respect, courage, and responsibility, while building campers’ self-esteem, self-confidence, and character. Our camps offer far more than typical child care; we help campers discover their special talents and identify their goals and dreams. Additionally, campers have access to excellent indoor and outdoor athletic and cultural facilities on Hofstra’s beautiful 240-acre campus.
We invite you to learn more about our American Camp Association-accredited summer camps, tour the facilities, and meet with our dedicated staff. We look forward to meeting you and satisfying your family’s summer camp needs.

Located in New York's Catskill Mountains, Timber Lake West is just over 2 hours northwest of New York City and 3 hours from Philadelphia. Set on a mountaintop, its 380 secluded acres features its own private spring-fed lake and an outstanding array of facilities.
▌Read More about Timber Lake West Camp
CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.
Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.
The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.
Other Facilities: Four regulation lighted Basketball Courts, Regulation Hockey Rink, Regulation Baseball Field, Two regulation lighted Softball Fields, Lighted Soccer Field, Outdoor Amphitheatre, Regulation Lacrosse Field, Beach Volleyball Court, Two Volleyball Courts, Two heated swimming pools, Two Ga-Ga Courts, Social Hall, Dining Room, Planet West Canteen, Art Barn, Skate Park, Indoor Basketball Court, Movie Theatre, Dance studio, Rock-climbing Wall/Ropes Course, Gymnastics Center, and a Fitness Center.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Timber Lake West's unique four-week summer camp program offers children a place to make new friends, try new activities and grow as a person. We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.
Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. We create the right balance between competition and good sportsmanship, allowing every camper to be comfortable joining in, while also promoting teamwork and spirit. At Timber Lake West, winning is great but our goal is that every camper walks off the field or court with more friends and feeling better about him or herself.
Including: Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Golf, Tennis, Volleyball, Ga-Ga, Inter-Camp Games, Leagues, and Tournaments.
HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.
Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.
Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.
Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.
As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.
Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. With over thirty activities to choose from, our extensive electives feature experienced teachers and coaches to ensure that campers get the highest quality of instruction in the areas of their greatest interest:
SPORTS: Advanced Soccer, Basketball Clinics, Hockey Clinics, Tennis Lessons, Gymnastics
FITNESS: Aerobics, Cheerleading, Dance, Martial Arts, Rollerblading, Skatepark, Spin/Cycling, Weight Lifting
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: Zip Line, Climbing Wall, Fishing, Adventure Ropes, Hiking & Pioneering, Mountain Biking, Nature, Archery
FINE ARTS: Candlemaking, Ceramics, Macrame, Pine Car Derby, Modelmaking, Painting, Rocketry, Shirt Factory, Stained Glass, Woodshop, Tie Dye, Pillow Making, Stamp Art, Mask Making
WATERFRONT: Canoeing, Kayaking, Waterskiing, Kneeboarding

WEDNESDAY SPECIAL EVENT ACTIVITIES:
Every Wednesday is uniquely programmed for our entire campus. After a well-deserved later wake-up and breakfast on our campus, campers head out to a special morning of electives. The afternoon is a scheduled activity! Dinner is our famed barbecue and then a special evening activity finishes out the day. INCLUDING: Carnival, Battle of the Sexes, Olympics, Wacky Water Day, College Confrontation, Guiness Book of Records Day, Wild and Wacky Water Day, Big Sister-Little Sister, Big Brother-Little Brother, WWF Chocolate Pudding Wrestling, All-Star Athletic Clinics, Laser Tag, Professional Magic Show and Magic Clinics, and Girls' Day Out and Boys' Day Out
EVENING ACTIVITIES:
Each evening is filled with a fun activity. Whether it's a “Broadway” production in our theatre, a campfire, masquerade social, outdoor games, contests or a late-night league game on one of our lighted courts, evening activities are among the best times of the day at Timber Lake West. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.
The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.
Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.
We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!
OTHER CAMP INFO: It's been said that “teaching kids to count isn't nearly as important as teaching them what counts.” Camp offers the perfect environment to teach children important life lessons that the traditional academic environment just isn't designed to handle.
Under the careful guidance of trained camp professionals, children can learn and practice social skills at a level not offered in school.
While parents are the primary source of values education and character building, the job had been getting harder and harder as affluent lifestyles blur the lines of what really is and is not important. Camp offers an opportunity to reinforce what children are already learning at home.
Moreover, in the recreational setting that includes competitive sports, performing arts, and day-to-day bunk living with nine or ten peers and college-age counselors, children have a unique opportunity to learn, practice and test their values skills.”
Most important, STARFISH not only supports our camp's mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends while building their self-esteem; it creates the environment that makes it possible.

CAMP FACILITIES: Surprise Lake Camp is blessed with incredible natural beauty. Our camp sits on 500 beautiful wooded acres surrounded by an enormous expanse of undeveloped state parkland. Additionally, we have miles and miles of gorgeous hiking trails with breathtaking views of the Hudson River, and beautiful campsites for cookouts and overnights. You won't believe how inspiring and exciting our woods activities are!
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Surprise Lake Camp has a rich history. It was founded in 1902 by the Educational Alliance to provide a summer vacation for Jewish boys from Main Building - 1920 the tenements of Manhattan's Lower East Side. In its first season, it had six tents for 25 campers and five counselors. One of the first campers was Eddie Cantor, who, upon achieving success as an entertainer, became one of the camp's most ardent supporters. Since then Surprise Lake Camp has served thousands of young people, many of whom have achieved prominence, among them, entertainer Neil Diamond, talk show host Larry King, actor Jerry Stiller, and former New York Attorney General Robert Abrams.
In 1911, the 92nd Street Y became partners in running the camp, and the camp office was located at the Y for many years. In 1917, when the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies was created, Surprise Lake Camp was one of the initial member agencies. The camp then became incorporated as a New York not-for-profit in 1920, eventually leading to complete independence from its founding agencies. Over the years, Surprise Lake Camp has been substantially rebuilt three times. In addition, its clientele and program have evolved as the Jewish community has changed. Originally established to provide summer vacations in the country for poor boys from the lower East Side, the camp has also gone through periods when it was dedicated to feeding undernourished boys, operated as a year-round camp which included formal education during the winter, committed to the personal development of children using a social group work model, and run as a general co-ed summer camp with special emphasis on scholarships.
