CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: LIT is the first step in the program, and it is for students who have completed the 9th grade, but have not yet turned 18. During two weeks at camp, each group of LIT's will venture out on a 4-day/3-night backpacking trip, participate in activities around camp, live in a tipi village, complete a service project, and work with our day-camp program.
The SIT Program provides campers who have completed the 10th grade (but are not yet 18) with an incredible opportunity for skill development in an outdoor setting. The participants will embark on a 5 day/4 night backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains, a 4 day/3 night rafting trip on the Upper Colorado River, and mountain biking adventures in Fraser, CO while gaining valuable skills and instruction. Like the LITs, SITs live in the Tipi Village while they are at camp. Participants will complete 1-2 service projects around camp or in the community.
The CIT program is for participants who have completed the 11th grade and are genuinely interested in acquiring the skills necessary to be a camp counselor. The group will participate in a 4 day/3 night backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park, a one day raft trip on the upper Colorado River, a CPR/First Aid certification course, a Leave No Trace certification course, and a week long training program similar to our staff training. The final two weeks are spent observing and assisting in the leadership of regular camp programs.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: YMCA of the Rockies is dedicated to providing a scholarship to 10% of our campers. Camper Scholarships are available on the basis of financial need. You can download the application on the Camp Chief Ouray website.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Round up the family and get away to the beauty of the Colorado Rockies and the good ol' days of summer camp! Parents, grandparents, teens and children enjoy traditional camp activities. Together you'll learn new skills, bond through teamwork and create lasting memories. Staff members are chosen through a detailed application and interview process. All staff backgrounds are checked against the Central Registry for Crimes Against Children and the Colorado or Federal Bureau of Investigation in accordance with Colorado licensing requirements.
A well-trained, enthusiastic staff is crucial to an exciting and unforgettable camping experience. CAMP FACILITIES: We offer overnight/sleepaway dance camps in beautiful locations where the pace of life is slower. At ADTC, mountains, forests and lakes will surround you. You'll raise your serotonin, boost your immune system, and do what you love all day long.
Our dance camps are near renowned destination resorts & famous cities. At ADTC, you'll have access to all of the activities you'd want to enjoy at camp, as well as all of the amenities you'd expect to find at a resort. And we have just as much fun outside the dance studio as we do in class!
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our top-notch dance choreographers bring the freshest dance combinations to our dance camps! They hail from the best dance studios, schools and performance groups.
ADTC choreographers have the most impressive dance resumes: they are Radio City Rockettes; Broadway & MTV performers; celebrities from your favorite dance TV shows; and collegiate dance team competitors.
No matter what level dancer you are, we’ve got fun & challenging dance classes that’ll fit you just right.
You’ll take four dance classes daily and at week’s end you get to show off your new moves in a big Friday night performance for family, friends and fellow campers.
In addition to core dance classes in contemporary, hip hop & jazz (styles of jazz vary and may include lyrical, modern or Broadway), you’ll choose between ballet, tap or world dance for your core elective dance class.
And we believe girls in our perfectionist culture need to get out and have more authentic fun! At ADTC you can enjoy awesome activities & extras like horseback riding, kayaking, paintball, trampolines, swimming, hiking, rock wall climbing, alpine slides, water rides, and so much more!
Join us this summer for your chance to take dance classes with the best choreographers in the world!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: WHAT’S THE GIRLS LEADERSHIP SPECIAL SAUCE?
Professional & Crazy Fun Staff — Our Educators teach for us all year round. They live and breathe our renowned curriculum, and they’ve been practicing our trademark camp games for years, so they are more than ready to rumble.
Summer Program Director Cora Garner is an American Camp Association Member. She came to us after working at Cornell University, Stanford University, and most recently the University of California, Berkeley. Through her work in Higher Education, she has developed and taught courses that focus on identity and community development.
At Girls Leadership we want you to be true-to-you. Every day starts with community games. Our theatre-based workshops focus on developing personal and societal leadership, such as how to ask for what you need. In these sessions girls practice new tools for speaking up for themselves and for others.
We also create beautiful art projects, stay active outside, and always have a spirit theme for the day. These activities are designed to encourage girls to embrace who they are, reflect on what they believe, and give them an opportunity to express themselves creatively.
