Theater, Musical Theater, Dance, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: Lyric Arts Theater is located at 420 East Main Street in downtown Anoka, MN, about 25 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.
CAMP FACILITIES: In addition to a 228 seat bowl-style theater, our building houses a dance studio, full rehearsal hall, and scene shop.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Flash Mob Shakespeare
Ever imagine Hamlet’s famous soliloquies delivered on the downtown train? Or, “Too Darn Hot” from Kiss Me Kate sung at a swimming pool? The sky’s the limit when you create your own original flash mob versions of the Bard’s best. We’ll spend the first week creating, rehearsing and building a following. During the second week, invite your friends and family to watch and play with us offsite. Drop off and pick up locations will vary during the second week.

Improv & Sketch Comedy
Wouldn’t it be great to NEVER be wrong? In this week-long intensive, learn the art of improv and comedy sketch writing. Practice improv techniques and collaborate with fellow students to create your own comedic sketches. A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of this workshop series.

Actor’s Toolbox
We’ve assembled talented theater professionals to share their knowledge with you. Dig deep into key theater topics, both on stage and behind the scenes. Come for just one session or attend all four days, it’s up to you! No final presentation.
Monday – Thursday
July 7 – 10 9am to 4pm $195
Acting – July 7 ($50/day)
Learn how to create an original character, develop scene work with a partner, and learn differences between acting on stage and acting on film.
Musical Theater – July 8 ($50/day)
Explore the basics of singing and dancing, with a focus on performance quality and musicality. A great musical theater overview…you’ll leave begging for more.
Stage Combat – July 9 ($50/day)
Physical and fun! Learn how to stage fight, prat fall and sword fight without harming a hair on anyone’s head.
Backstage Experience – July 10 ($50/day)
Students will get a tour of Lyric Arts and go behind the scenes to learn what it takes to put on a show. Topics include stage lighting design and sound, set construction, costume design, and stage makeup.
Teens – (Ages 14+)
Audition Boot Camp
This camp is all about you! Prepare for upcoming fall high school or college entrance auditions with experienced theater professionals. Instructors will individualize the camp based on students’ specific needs. This intensive week is a must for anyone who is serious about the performing arts.
A final presentation for family and friends will take place on the last day of this workshop series.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: At Lyric Arts Main Street Stage, we are committed to providing high-quality learning and performing opportunities to students of all ages. Our popular workshops offer students the opportunity to develop performing skills and build self-confidence through exercises in song, stage movement, voice projection, acting technique, improvisation, and more. We offer three full seasons - Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring - of workshop classes for all ages, as well as week-long Spring Break day camps.
